“SOUNDMASS” is a site-specific and ever-evolving soundscape by Yang Bao that transforms the unique circular structure of the largest oil tank at TANK Shanghai into a gigantic super-instrument through live performance and sound installation. Driven by his concept of “Physical Music,” Bao seeks to materialize the intangible music into a soundmass with continuous changes in color and texture—a sonic monument that constantly devours and regenerates itself. Inspired by classical music and post-human minimalism, his sensory-based musical composition condenses complex emotions into poetic tales through a visceral audio-visual experience. As the echoes of this spatial sound piece climb and fall in the large tank, sound is no longer trapped in linear time, but exists here and now in every unpredictable slice of time.

《超声物》是一个场域特定且无限演变的声音景观。鲍杨现场演奏的声音作品在上海油罐艺术中心最大的油罐内，反射出漩涡状的回声，将无形的音乐实体化为一个色彩与质感持续变幻的“超声物”，并在反复撞击罐壁的过程中，蜕变成一个不断自我吞噬和再生的“声命体”。在油罐这一巨型乐器中，钢琴和人声在混沌的回响中不断聚合和异变。鲍杨的“物理性音乐”情感充盈且高度视觉化，将复杂的情绪凝练成诗性的寓言，他以古典音乐和后人类极简主义为灵感，邀请现场观众感受声音本身的物理属性。随着音乐的回声在5号油罐内攀升和回落，它不再受困于线性的时间，而只存在于此刻此地，只存在于每一个不可预测的时间切片之中。
